John Golder is retired from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) after 25 years of service. At the time of his retirement John was a Team Supervisor for both ATF’s prestigious National and International Response Teams, responsible for managing multiple investigators at large loss fire and explosion scenes throughout the world. For over 10 years, John was ATF’s Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) Program Manager, responsible for the Certification, Implementation, and Training of all of ATF’s CFI’s. John has been an ATF Certified Fire Investigator for 19 years, a Certified Explosives Specialist for ATF for 20 years and an International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) for 11 years. He has conducted investigations of large-scale losses involving both fires and explosions throughout the United States and Internationally.
John is a regular instructor at the Department of Homeland Security National Fire Academy and Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, instructing federal, state, local, state, and international students. For over 10 years, John was ATF’s representative on the NFPA 921 Committee, IAAI’s CFITrainer.net Committee and the National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) Organization of Scientific Area Committees, Fire and Explosion Subcommittee.
John has a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He has a Master of Science in Forensic Science and a Professional Certificate in Fire Science from the University of New Haven. John is currently a Principal and founding member of Forensic Investigation & Consultation, LLC, (FORINCON), specializing in the investigation of fire and explosion incidents.
