The HS-RAM (Radiation Monitor) by Helgeson Scientific Services is a state-of-the-art multitasking device designed for the detection and measurement of gamma radiation in potentially exposed personnel. Here's an overview of its key features and functionalities:

 

1. Detection System: The HS-RAM incorporates 8 large-area plastic scintillation detectors distributed strategically over walls, floor, and ceiling. These detectors create 8 sensitive areas covering specific parts of the body (1 foot, 2 legs, 4 torso, and 1 head), enabling simultaneous measurements with varying levels of alarm sensitivity.

 

2. Automated Management: The management of the HS-RAM is fully automated. Sensors detect when a person enters the portal, initiating a comprehensive examination automatically. Additionally, the equipment continuously updates background level information to ensure accurate measurements.

 

3. Visual and Audible Indicators: The HS-RAM features screens, lights, and acoustic indicators that alert users to the presence of radioactive particles in case of contamination or significant variations in background activity.

 

4. Construction: Made of aluminum and steel painted for easy cleaning and decontamination, the HS-RAM is designed to withstand rigorous use in demanding environments.

 

5. Detectors: The equipment incorporates plastic scintillators with a sensitive surface of 500x500mm and a thickness of 50mm. Each detector includes its own HV source and electronics to ensure the functionality of each detector remains intact.

 

6. User Interface: The HS-RAM features an 8" color TFT touch screen that displays real-time values of background, object, alarms, etc. It provides intuitive control and monitoring capabilities to the user.

 

7. Software: The equipment is controlled through the HS-RAD application, a powerful and scalable tool with a modular structure. It allows for digital adjustment of parameters, calibration, verification, and configuration.

 

8. Calibrations and Alarms: The equipment can be calibrated to report activities, with the ability to register patterns for calibration purposes. The software allows for the creation of customizable alarm thresholds for different zones, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.

 

9. File Management and Access Control: The software includes a file manager for data collection and report generation, with an automatic PDF document generator. Access control routines ensure security by allowing different levels of access to sensitive options.

 

10. Barrier Configuration and External Dimensions: Optionally, the system can be equipped with a barrier access control system. The external dimensions of the equipment are 230cm x 99cm x 79cm (HxWxD), and the inner dimensions of the measuring chamber are 200cm x 60cm x 76cm (HxWxD).
