Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI) is the regional economic development agency for Northern Ireland; our role is to grow the local economy by helping new and existing businesses to compete internationally by increasing exports, developing International collaborations, and attracting new investment to Northern Ireland, bringing greater prosperity to this part of the United Kingdom. 

Northern Ireland has an international reputation for its expertise in the defence and security industries. It is home to a wide range of innovative companies that are providing a variety of solutions and equipment across areas such as cyber security, protective clothing, surveillance, asset tracking, data analytics, offender technology solutions, safety equipment and survival technology. Northern Ireland is also home to world-leading universities, Ulster University and Queen’s University Belfast. Both universities are undertaking industrially relevant research and channelling their expertise into the development of sophisticated products and processes to assist the growth of companies across the defence and security industries.

The Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) at Queen’s University Belfast is a global flagship centre for cyber security and is recognised by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre as an academic centre of excellence in cyber security research and in cyber security education.
