Innovation matters to policing, law enforcement, public safety, and security services (both cyber and physical).  A major challenge is that some of the most innovative and entrepreneurial actors in these areas – the early adopters of new and emerging technologies - are in criminal enterprises.  How do we unite our global Forces for innovation to achieve a safer tomorrow?  Our MIT approach to innovation looks beyond the individual technologies to understand that this is a systemic issue – involving the challenges that large organizations (both public and private) face with innovation, tech adoption, and adaptation to a fast-moving world.  It also encourages collaboration among the stakeholders in innovation ecosystem – comprising government agencies and corporate enterprises, but also start-up ventures, university experts and ‘risk capital’ providers.  The mission of public safety is one that can unite us all.
