Detective Superintendent Matt Cornish of Essex Police has led his force through a significant change in the way that it prevents domestic homicide. In response to the tragic death of Ashley Wadsworth the force challenged existing thinking in terms of the way that that high-risk domestic abuse perpetrators are identified and pursued. The force developed a new approach, partnering with leading academics in the field. Seeing the value and results from their innovation, they sought funding from the National Police Chief’s Council to trial a new technology, ILAS the Intelligence Lead Assessment Service, developed by BAE Systems, Digital intelligence to take their work to the next level.
